My Wishlist for MyMind

One of the most underrated apps that people don't talk about nearly enough is MyMind.

This is the app I always wanted to make (if I knew how to code apps). I always wanted an app that I could just throw a bunch of random stuff into and it collects it in a beautiful and searchable way.

That's what MyMind is. Whether is a photo, a website, a tweet, type out a thought, YouTube video, anything, MyMind grabs it and puts it in a beautiful, readable, format. Tweets are shown in full, unless it was a quote tweet, and links back to the original tweet.

It looks amazing. But now that I have started using it a lot more, there are a few things I wish it had.

Here's my wishlist for MyMind.

Push Notifications

Right now in MyMind you can write any thought at all. It can be long form or short.

It can even be a todo. And each todo gets tagged with "todo" automatically so they are easy to search. But it would be even better if you could set up a reminder.

No, MyMind doesn't have to be a full featured todo app, I have Things for that, but if you open up the world of todos then inevitably you will want to be able to set a reminder. I'm not asking for recurring todos, deadlines, importance, or anything like that. Just a simple reminder.

I would love to even place a reminder on a website I saved. I could write a note on the website like, "check this out later" and then set a reminder for 3 hours from now. That would killer.

Reader Mode with Highlights

I belive they are working on this already, but since they can save websites and they give you a small preview already of an article, it would be killer if you could read the article in a reader mode within MyMind.

This is begging to be read in MyMind

MyMind has such a killer sense of design and typography that I would love to see their take on a reader app.

If they add this feature and then Readwise releases their new Reader app...that will make this space much more interesting. It's been Instapaper and Pocket for years and they haven't changed much in the last 5-6 years really.

Remove Mind Tags

One of the awesome features for MyMind is that even if you forgot to tag something you saved, MyMind will use AI to create tags for you. Sometimes they add these tags so you can see them and sometimes they don't.

Now I may be misrepresenting the way this is done, but basically what happens is I'll do a search for my tag "inspiration" and some random items will come up that have (at least to me) nothing to do with inspiration. They aren't tagged as "inspiration" and I don't see that word anywhere in the text of the item.

I would love to do a search for something and when a random item pops up be able to choose something like, "this doesn't belong to this tag". This isn't a big deal at all, but it would be a nice feature to have.

That's really it. The app is already amazing and they constantly come up with new features that I didn't even think about. That's one sign of a great company: they give you what you didn't even know you wanted.

I recently tried to get rid of some subscriptions and just couldn't find a way to get rid of MyMind ($11.99/month). I throw tons of images in it, tweets I find, websites and articles, and more.

If you haven't checked it out yet, you really should here.
